How Divorce Planning Partners Works with Family Law Attorneys

Divorce Planning Partners works with a select group of family law attorneys to offer expertise to their clients in need of strategic divorce financial planning. Michael Kwiatkowski, a Certified Financial Divorce Practitioner™ CFDP®, directs the firm. Divorce Planning Partners provides valuable expertise to clients of referring attorneys who are in need of services to evaluate, analyze, and/or design equitable financial settlements.

When a family law attorney refers a client to us, our first priority is to evaluate the situation and determine whether we can be of assistance. After we have had the opportunity to meet with the prospective client, both parties will have to decide whether working together is a good fit.

Our second priority is to insure full communication with the referring attorney. In our many years of working with attorneys, we know that consistent communication along the way makes the process successful. Our services are always provided within the context of client confidentiality.

If there is a mutual agreement by which we can add value to your client's case, Divorce Planning Partners will create a comprehensive divorce financial analysis based on client needs and will consult with the attorney along the way. The attorney may then use this information to support the case in court or in settlement discussions. Mike Kwiatkowski, CFDP® is also available as an expert witness if the situation warrants testimony.

If the client requires additional services from the referring attorney, such as post-decree financials, a QDRO or an estate plan, Divorce Planning Partners will have the client return to the same attorney for the services needed or request a referral from the referring attorney. If requested, Divorce Planning Partners will attend this meeting as a service to the client. All services are provided in conjunction with the attorney to achieve the best possible outcome for the mutual client.
