How Divorce Planning Partners Works with Clients
Beginning a professional relationship with Divorce Planning Partners, adds a valuable advocate to your team. The process of divorce is never easy but the financial knowledge and strategy we bring to the table, as well as a snapshot of the client's financial future, complement the expertise of your attorney. In conjunction with your attorney, we will help you to:
- Develop a property settlement plan that will be reasonable and economically feasible for both parties. This will take into account various tax issues and whether or not the family home should be kept by one or both parties.
- Create both a present and a projected future income plan to provide for yourself and any dependents, taking tax issues into consideration. Your plan will also provide guidance on the future sale or purchase decisions of major assets.
- Provide a divorce planning spreadsheet showing the outcomes of various property settlements, maintenance and child support proposals. This spreadsheet will be a very powerful tool when making a case in court. It will also provide peace of mind for the client regarding a secure financial future. Additionally, the spreadsheet will help pinpoint any shortfalls before they become a serious problem.
- Testify in court on your behalf if your attorney requests us to do so.
Our charges include a retainer and hourly fees that will cover the work provided. We will also give you a reasonable estimate of time that will be required to complete your case.
By having a Certified Financial Divorce Practitioner™ CFDP® like Michael Kwiatkowski and Divorce Planning Partners on your team, you will present a stronger case in court and have a better idea of what your financial future may hold.
Remember, all settlement proposals will be made by your attorney and ultimately approved by a family law judge. A Certified Financial Divorce Practitioner™ CFDP® cannot make a settlement offer on your behalf nor can he guarantee you a specific outcome. All proposals prepared by Divorce Planning Partners are designed as an enhancement within the settlement process.
